A great deal of attention is given to the ever changing flux of the industry and this results in frequent updates and revisions to the Handbook, most recently in 2007.

Preparation for the examination varies depending upon the candidate’s needs but should include (1) familiarity with the Body of Knowledge and (2) familiarity with The Certified Lease Professionals' Handbook. However, you are not required to purchase the CLP Handbook. In addition to passing the exam, the requirements are as follows:
Prospective CLP candidates are required to satisfy industry experience and reputation criteria, submit an application, pledge to adhere to the CLP Standards of Professional Conduct and prepare for and pass the written CLP examination. The candidate’s experience must consist of at least three years in the equipment leasing industry. In addition to the CLP Handbook, the Foundation offers a Mentor Program to assist with your studies and optional Master Review Classes, which are conducted at industry conferences each year by various leasing and equipment finance industry associations as well as independent trainers.
